A new trailer has revealed that Wonder Woman 1984 will be set in Oceania, and that Oceania is, and always has been, at war with Eastasia.
It is understood that the film sees Wonder Woman team up with Winston Smith to do battle with Big Brother and The Party.
“It’s important to move on from the first film and try something different,” explained director Party Jenkins.
“I’ve always loved 1984, and the terrifying vision of the future of humanity that it lays out for us.
“But, by putting Wonder Woman on Winston’s side, I could even up the odds a little bit.
“You know, when the Thought Police come for him, Wonder Woman jumps out and lassos all of them and saves Winston.
“Finally, we’ll be able to answer the question that literary students have battled with for years – could an Amazonian warrior bring down Big Brother?”
Initially, it had been thought that the film was called Wonder Woman 1984 because it was set in 1984.
“What, and have kitschy costumes and big hair and Wham and Prince playing all through it?
“Sounds a bit silly to me.
“No, nightmarish dystopian futures are what we’re all about here.”
Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in 2020 and will be set in Oceania, which has always been at war with Eurasia.
