Woman who took over Aunt’s magical Christmas bakery comes to senses and returns to job in city

A woman who, in December, took over her dead Aunt’s magical Christmas bakery in the festively cosy little town of Christmaston, has come to her senses and returned to her successful career in New York.

“I don’t know what I was thinking,” said Kelly Grace, one of the city’s leading advertising executives.

“I hate baking. It’s boring, and you have to get up insanely early to cook about a million gingerbread men. I used to look after seasonal ad campaigns for the leading soft-drinks company in America.”

She has sold the bakery to the baking conglomerate who’d offered to buy it in December.

“I didn’t get quite as much as they offered the first time, but it’s still a pretty good price. They’re going to turn it into a magical bakery franchise. So, it’ll probably create jobs.”

Ms Grace went on to explain that the pace of life in Christmaston had become a problem.

“It’s a pretty charming town in December, with all the lights up and everything. But in January, dreadful. Drab and boring place, and everyone just goes on about how brilliant Christmas was. I asked what the next town event is and it’s the annual Switching-on-the-Christmas-Lights ceremony in December. December! And it isn’t a ceremony, it’s just someone turning on the lights.”

She also returns to the city a single woman.

“Yes, ditched that boring bastard and his gilet. What sort of man never leaves his home town? Also, if I had to listen to him go on about how it’s what’s inside people that really matters, I’d have dropped him in the sea.”

Although Ms Grace has vowed not to leave the city again for a quaint little Christmas town in the country, another Aunt who runs a magical clog shop in the town of Holidayville is looking quite ill.

“Yeah, well, my sister can deal with all that crap this time. I’m done.”
