A woman has won an undisclosed amount after successfully suing the makers of Moonfall for a ‘substantial loss of brain cells’ due to watching the film.
The film, which features a story of an angry special effect who drives the moon and decides to crash it onto Earth, has caused some concern in the medical community that it is so incredibly stupid that it could cause permanent damage to the brains of people who watch it.
“I certainly switched it off after 10 minutes,” explained Stewart James, professor of Really, Really Stupid Things in Oxford University’s Department of Idiocy.
“I could feel myself start to forget where my keys are and wondering what Piers Morgan had said recently. It was clear that just 10 minutes of the film was making me stupider.”
The woman at the centre of the court case, Kelly Grace, testified she’d begun to watch a lot more daytime TV and had found herself enjoying the films of Adam Sandler.
“I noticed something was wrong the next day after I watched the film. I woke up and had forgotten how to use the kettle, then I started to find things that the DJ on the radio was saying to be quite funny. Later on, I agreed with some of the Oscar awards and then had an urge to read a Dan Brown novel.
“I went to see the doctor, and after tests, they found out that my brain had started to shed its own brain cells after having watched Moonfall.”
The judge in the case found in Ms Grace’s favour but she wasn’t awarded the substantial amount she sued for because, the Judge told her, she was now in a position to form a successful career in politics.
