Despite many people being baffled by the various timelines in season 1 of the Witcher, producers have already confirmed that a newly commissioned season 2 will include 84 different individual timelines.
One of the timelines will be set twenty minutes before the season airs which sees Henry Cavill’s Witcher pop to the shops for some cigarettes and a copy of today’s newspaper.
Another timeline will see a simple, microscopic organism emerge from the primordial soup. It is thought that this organism is a distant ancestor of Yennifer and the organism’s reaction to the atmosphere is crucial to the understanding of her motivations an entirely different timeline.
One episode will show two different timelines one after another which turn out to be the two different sides of the same conversation presented in a needlessly confusing manner.
There is a timeline featuring a tree slowly growing in a barren wasteland that takes place four hundred years before Geralt rides past it and casually sets it on fire whilst chasing a monster from a different timeline whose been brought into Geralt’s timeline by a wizard from a different timeline who looks familiar but you can’t quite place.
Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich wasn’t worried that there will be people who will find the multiple timelines needlessly confusing.
“No, of course not,” she chuckled.
“I mean, I don’t think anyone’s watched the Witcher since that bit in the first season when all those women turned into eels for some reason.”
