The Tomb Raider movie rights are currently up on eBay available at a starting price of $5.
The rights became available after MGM forgot that it owned them and failed to make a sequel to their 2018 Tomb Raider film.
The rights holder, GK Films, has now put them up on eBay.
“Well, you know, $5 is only the starting price. When people start bidding that could go up to 80 or even 90 bucks,” said Kelly Grace, a representative of GK Films.
“Don’t forget that over hundred people went to see that last Tomb Raider film and Lara Croft was really, really popular in the nineties. You know, she was on the cover of Loaded magazine in her pants, which definitely wasn’t weird.
“Also, what we’ve done is really sweetened the deal. It’s not just the movie rights, we’ve also thrown in one of those PlayStation Minis from the other year and a compilation of the first 3 games so, you know, if you’re a fan, that’s a pretty nice deal.”
Stewart James is a painter/decorator from Chelmsford, Essex. He admitted to being intrigued by the auction.
“Yeah, I remember that Lara Croft. My little brother had a PlayStation and we use to play her game together. Might be fun to have the movie rights. I could even give them to him for his birthday.
“On the other hand, we need a need a new microwave. New microwave or Tomb Raider movie rights. Tricky. I’ll have to think about it.”
The eBay auction currently has no bids, but has 17 people ‘watching’ it.
