Groot actor Vin Diesel has let slip a tantalising piece of character information about the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.
According to the star, the new film will feature characters from Ingmar Bergman’s Persona.
Persona is a famously baffling film about a nurse who looks after an actress in a nice cottage before turning into the actress while being filmed by a magic film crew.
There is also an erect penis at the start for very clear, valid artistic reasons.
“Yeah, man, we got Thor and he meets up with Alma and Elisabet. Those women from Persona, you know?” said Diesel.
“I guess it’s a whole Scandinavian thing, you know? It’s crazy and it’s kind of out there, but you know Taika [Waititi – director], he’s got that whole imagination thing going on.”
Diesel gave no indication of how the plot of Thor: Love and Thunder would incorporate the Persona characters, but it seems likely that Thor would crash through time and space to land at the Persona cottage and get taken in by Alma who nurses him back to health while slowly subsuming his personality before he sees a random picture of an erect penis for very clear, valid artistic reasons and runs off.
The news raises the intriguing possibility of a crossover between the Marvel Universe and the Bergman universe in which we could see that wacky acting troop from The Seventh Seal appear in Black Panther II and Professor Isak Borg from Wild Strawberries make an appearance Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, possibly to give Doctor Strange some wild strawberries.
