Third Knives Out film sees Benoit Blanc investigate who stank the toilet out

With the huge success of the first two Knives Out films, there was never any doubt that a third will follow. Director Rian Johnson has spoken a little about the plot for the new film, including the intriguing news that it will not be focusing on a murder this time.

“No murder, but perhaps something equally diabolical; someone stank out the downstairs toilet, and Benoit has to uncover who did it,” said Johnson.

The film will open on a young woman waking up, having some breakfast and then popping to the toilet. After a few seconds with the door locked, she pushes the door open and staggers out retching and gasping for air. The family cordon off the room and call Benoit Blanc.

“Again, we have a terrific cast of suspects,” continued Johnson.

“The cynical, handsome son, Reggie; he had a lot of Indian food the night before. Great Aunt Cynthia has had IBS for years. Flighty daughter Amelia, who seems innocent, but is implicated when a witness reports that they saw her go into the toilet and emerge some twenty minutes later. Grandfather Wallis’s new copy of ‘What Shotgun’ was found leaning against the wall next to the toilet.

“All of the family seem to be implicated in some way. This is set to be one of the most challenging cases Benoit has ever investigated.”

Fans of Benoit Blanc will be relieved to know that a fourth film will follow after this, in which he investigates who left the bloody light on in there, and then a fifth, more personal this time, sees him investigate where he left his keys, because he definitely had them when he left the house that morning.
