The time Sissy Spacek used her psychic powers to secure an Oscar nomination for Carrie

March 1977. Exciting young actress Sissy Spacek has gathered friends and family together to watch the announcement of the Oscar nominations.

The room falls silent as the nominations are read out – Liv Ullman, Faye Dunaway, Talia Shire and then…Sissy Spacek!

“All she had to do was plant that thought in thirty or forty people’s mind, that’s all, and they’d start talking her up for the award and the buzz would grow and she’d get the nomination,” continued Laurie

“But she was too good, as I understand it, her psychic messaging was so strong that not only did she secure a nomination for best actress, but for best supporting actor, best foreign language film, and best song.”

Naturally, the anomalies were ruled out and Spacek went on to get her nomination.

But the strange tale doesn’t end there.

“So, I took this to the Academy, you know, when I figured out what was going on, and they said they’d look into it,” said an exasperated Laurie.

“But, nothing happened, so the only explanation is that Spacek used her powers to make them forget what I’d told them.”

Spacek’s terrifying psychic hold on the Academy seems to be ongoing.

“Oh sure, I’ve reported it six times since 1977 and every time it gets ignored. That’s Spacek’s work. It’s the only explanation.”
