Hollyoaks to take on harrowing toe-stubbing storyline

Popular well-there’s-nothing-else-on-I-suppose teatime soap opera Hollyoaks will introduce a harrowing new storyline in Spring in which a handsome man stubs his toe.

No stranger to controversial and dramatic storylines, Hollyoaks has previously dealt a character’s ordeal in a North Korean work camp and a young woman growing an arm out of her face, but the new toe-stubbing story is a difficult topic, even for the long-running show.

“Blake will be seen walking across his living room and stubbing his toe on a coffee table,” confirmed producer Brian Kirkwood.

“Whilst only wearing his socks.”

The show will then focus on the fallout from the toe-stubbing, and its effects on other characters before a special 5-day, late-night run of episodes in May in which Blake takes the coffee table to the tip and calls it a ‘bastard.’

“People stub their toes every day,” continued Kirkwood.

“So, the fact that no UK soap has ever thought to take on this difficult topic is surprising, to say the least.

“We just hope that we give something to identify with for handsome men who stub their toes on coffee tables.”

However, whilst the decision to tackle the difficult topic of stubbing your toe is laudable, there is a rumour that in the new year Hollyoaks will take on an even more difficult topic.

In January, a new six-week storyline will be based around an attractive young woman who finds herself trapped in her flat with a really big wasp.
