The big news was always that Michael Keaton’s Batman was coming back, and it was such big news that it means some of the other heroes who come to Barry Allen’s aid in the upcoming Flash film were a little overshadowed.
Not anymore.
A newly released trailer showed that 1970s teatime legend SuperTed will be joined by Bank Holiday stars Herbie and Condorman as they rally round and attempt to do defeat Michael Shannon’s Zod, on an alternate reality Earth.
“Well, General Zod is a powerful, powerful enemy and so we need all the heroes of Earth to help defeat him. SuperTed is easily the most powerful teddy bear on the planet, Condorman has some wings and Herbie is…well, he’s hilarious, isn’t he? A car that thinks for itself. Crazy.”
The introduction of the three heroes was given an ecstatic reaction by fans.
“Finally, Herbie is back, and he’s doing what he does best – fighting evil by unexpectedly reversing into a henchman and then driving off,” said former Home Secretary Amber Rudd, who has been president of the Herbie fan club since 2002.
“I can’t wait.”
Condorman will be played by the man who brought the hero to life back in the 1980s – Michael Crawford.
“I’m thrilled to bring my Woody back to life,” he said.
“I know what the character means to all those children in the 1980s who were so desperately bored on Bank Holiday Mondays that they had to watch Condorman to fill the time until Disney Time came on in the evening.”
Intriguingly, when asked if they were any other heroes still to be announced, director Andres Muschietti smiled enigmatically, leading many to wonder if such great heroes of the past as He-man, the Power Rangers and Supergran could yet join the fray.
