Star Wars IX ‘the end of the C3P0 saga’

Star Wars actor Oscar Issac has confirmed that the upcoming Star Wars IX will mark the ‘end of the C3P0 saga.’

Although other characters have proved enduringly popular since the first film, it became increasingly clear as the sequels progressed that the saga was C3P0’s story.

Beginning life as a hobby for a small child with too many midichlorians, C3P0 is seen in some quarters as a god and has recovered from a near-death experience in Cloud City.

Enjoying a quieter life following the destruction of the Empire, the final film will depict the famous droid’s part in the downfall of the First Order.

“Yeah, this is definitely the final film in the C3P0 saga,” Isaac confirmed.

“I mean, it’s been a real privilege to be part of his story, you know? He’s been a hero to millions of kids who watch Star Wars and think ‘Yeah, I want to be a gold space-robot’ – hell, I always did.”

In the previous two films, a couple of popular supporting characters from the first two films died and so there is concern amongst fans that ‘Threepio’ might meet a similar fate in this final film.

“Oh man, if Threepio died that would be just like my childhood dying,”  tweeted @goldspaceface.

However, despite most people recognising that Star Wars is C3P0’s story, there are some fans who dispute that he is the saga’s true star.

“Yeah, yeah, everyone says that Threepio is the main guy in Star Wars, but that’s crazy,” tweeted @hutthouseband

“It’s Max Rebo, obviously, and if this film doesn’t finally let us know what happened after he stopped being house band leader for Jabba the Hutt, I’m going to be mad.”
