Sorry! Timothy Lumsden is actually FRENCH say EU

Barmy EU bureaucrats have claimed that classic sitcom character Timothy Lumsden is actually French. 

“When Sorry! Was filmed, Britain was a member of ze EU,” explained an EU representative called Rene or Klaus or something.

“As such, zhere would have been EU funds gone into ze production. Following a series of complicated euro-calculations, we have concluded zat Timothy Lumsden now belongs to ze EU and will become a French citizen with immediate effect.”

The EU is demanding that all episodes of Sorry! are to be redubbed, with French acting legend Jean Reno recording all of Ronnie Corbett’s lines with the new ‘correct’ French accent, and whenever Timothy is seen drinking a cup of tea or eating some bread then the film must be digitally altered to show a glass of wine and baguette, respectively.

The other actors’ lines will remain the same, although Mr Lumsden’s iconic ‘Language Timothy’ will now be in response to Timothy saying ‘Mon Dieu’ or ‘Zut alors.’

The series will then be reissued on DVD with an explanation that Timothy or ‘Timothee’, as he will now be known, was born in Rennes and then later adopted by the Lumsdens.

The Government has vowed to fight the decision, with plans to send Liz Truss to Brussels to sit alone in a meeting room shouting about how everything is terribly unfair.

The EU are said to be looking at other classic sitcoms and there are fears that Porridge’s Lenny Godber could be made German, Del-boy could become Danish, and the cast of Mind Your Language could all become British.
