Film fans were left reeling as a new trailer for the live-action version of Dumbo appeared to show the titular elephant fully NUDE and writhing in a cage.
Parents of children in particular have been shocked by the direction that Tim Burton’s remake has taken.
“This is a film directed at children, and I for one don’t expect to see any nudity in it,” said parent and leaf-ironer Stewart James.
“But, and this seems to be the case with modern films these days, they don’t seem to care about morals anymore and so all through the trailer you have Dumbo wearing no clothes whatsoever.”
Mr James was concerned about the effect that the fictional elephant’s nudity might have on children.
“Well, firstly, it’s a bad influence. Kids see Dumbo flying around with no clothes on, they’re going to think that going around with no clothes on is normal and acceptable, and it’s not. I’ve been told.
“Secondly, they’re exposed to naked elephants at such a young age, they might grow up being sexually attracted to elephants. Which would be very dangerous if they went to the zoo.”
Mr James issued a plea to producers.
“It can’t be that hard to go back to the film and use technology to put Dumbo in a nice pair of slacks and a shirt and tie.
“Please, for decency’s sake.”
It is thought that Disney will take no action over the nudity in Dumbo, and if early looks at the live-action remake of The Lion King is anything to go by, more nudity could be coming soon.
