Sexy Andrei Rublev Halloween costume not selling as well as hoped

The manufacturers of the ‘sexy Andrei Rublev Halloween costume’ have admitted that it’s not selling quite as well as they’d hoped.

The advertisements for the costume emphasize how much fun the costume could be

‘As popularised in Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1969 picture, Andrei Rublev is a revered 15^th century painter of religious icons. So, this Halloween season, why not surprise and delight your friends with our sexy Andrei Rublev costume. It’s Andrei, but sexy.’

“Yeah, it’s a shame, we thought that people might want something a bit different this year,” said Barry Streep, who runs the company producing the costumes.

“I genuinely thought that people would be sick of dressing up as a sexy vampire or a sexy zombie or a sexy Republican.”

“So, a sexy Andrei Rublev seemed the obvious choice for people who wanted to try something a bit different.”

So far, only one costume has been sold to a Mrs Jenny Fonda of Wisconsin.

“Well, I’m real happy with my sexy Andrei Rublev costume, I’m going to be wearing it for Patty Lampwhist’s Halloween Hop and she always wears that tired old sexy Un Chien Andalou costume, so I think I’m going to be quite the talk of the evening.”

Although Mr Streep is hopeful of a few more sales, he has a fallback plan in the event of disaster

“Yeah, we’ll just store them all in our barn for a year and then sell them on as sexy Hard To Be A God themed costumes, everyone’s bound to love dressing up as a character from the three hour Russian medieval sci-fi classic.

“It’s win/win.”
