Film of the year: Clowntergeist.
Well, obviously. Yes, there was some tough competition from modern classics such as Moonlight, Blade Runner 2049, La La Land, and Call me by your name. But Clowntergeist stands head and shoulders above all of them
The genius of Clowntergeist is that it’s both a clown and a poltergeist, thus creating a new supernatural being destined to become as part of modern folklore as vampires, werewolves or frankensteins.
The film is by turns, profound, moving, spectacular and hilarious. Well, I’d imagine it is. I mean, I’ve never actually seen it. But you don’t really need to, do you? It’s called Clowntergeist. That’s clearly enough to make it film of the year for all right-thinking people.
Honourable mention: The Diana Clone.
A serious and thought-provoking film about the science of cloning the people’s princess.
Interestingly, due to copyright reasons, the film-makers had to market the film as fiction, but insider sources confirm that everything that happened is entirely true.

Right, that’s probably everything you need to know about 2017. Yes, there was the stuff about Weinstein and Spacey, the Oscar cock-up, a female Dr Who, and the rise of queer cinema, but mainly 2017 will be remembered for Clowntergeist.
