The next Robert Eggers project will be an adaptation of little-known Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol.
The Nosferatu director has chosen the adaptation as his next project because no-one ever thought of doing that before.
“I’m visionary. It says so on my Wikipedia page,” he said.
“So that means I see cinema where other people don’t, and I believe that I can turn this strange, haunted tale of misery, greed and redemption into a cinematic experience like no other.
Eggers believes that his adaptation could even go on to become a much beloved film that is watched by families each year.
“Imagine that. Turning A Christmas Carol from an obscure Victorian story into something that becomes so beloved that families watch it every year. Something that enhances the Holiday season for families across the world. Has such a thing ever come to pass before?”
He even hoped that, perhaps one day, his bold adaptation could go on to become to eclipse the greatest Christmas story of them all. The one that has held for generations as the greatest story ever told.
“What, Home Alone? Well, you never know.”
