The team behind 1989’s bouncer classic Roadhouse have offered their congratulations to Marvel after Avengers: Endgame surpassed Roadhouse’s box office on its way to becoming the biggest film of all time.
“Congrats to Marvel and the Endgame team,” tweeted Rowdy Herrington, director of Roadhouse.
“In the words of Wade Garrett – ‘I thought you’d be bigger’ – and you were.”
It isn’t the first Marvel movie to eclipse Roadhouse’s box office, but it is the first one to go on to become the biggest film of all time.
“Yeah, we wanted to say something about how Endgame has finally beaten Roadhouse,” explained producer Joel Silver.
“Seemed the classy thing to do, and like Dalton says – ‘be nice.’”
“I mean, some people might say that they had to re-release the picture to become the biggest film of all time.
“We didn’t do that with Roadhouse, it came out once, and that was the box office and, you know, maybe if we kept re-releasing it then it would be the biggest film of all time.
“We could have done too. It still gets big numbers whenever it plays on TV, not Under Siege big numbers, but still pretty big.
“We didn’t, though and Endgame is the biggest film of all time, and good luck to them all.”
The producers of Avengers: Endgame have yet to respond to the Roadhouse team’s congratulations, which seems to show that, in terms of class, Roadhouse is still way ahead of Endgame which, many would agree, makes it the real biggest film of all time.
