Review – The Post

The Post

So, yeah, this was totally a thrilling examination of the ethics of journalism and the evolution of women in the boardroom, but it definitely needed loads more aliens.

Like, it’s Steven Spielberg, man. He’s brilliant at aliens. ET, Close Encounters, Peter Pan. Awesome at aliens.

Now, you know, I’m not saying The Post is a bad film, it’s totally a great film – Meryl Streep and Forrest Gump just, you know, totally acting.

I just think that if I was Steven Spielberg, then I’d have added more aliens.

It’s pretty easy, because the whole film is about the government covering war stuff up, so instead of making it war stuff, you make it about them covering up alien stuff instead.

Then, at the end you can have a big court case and the, like, evil corrupt government is trying to totally curtail the powers of the press and the court is about to send Forrest Gump and Meryl Street to prison for just trying to tell the truth, man.

All of a sudden, there’s a load of bright lights and the roof totally explodes off the courthouse and there’s a huge spaceship with the grey dudes from Close Encounters and there’s ET and Peter Pan and they’re all like – ‘Hey man, let them go. We totally exist.’

Now that would change it from a good film to an awesome film.

But maybe he’s saving that for The Post 2.

Screen Idle star rating **** Great. Needs more aliens.
