A treatment for a proposed film of the popular 90s sitcom Friends has been revealed and features the gang, now approaching their 50s, occasionally Facebooking each other and saying they really must try and organise a get-together.
The film will begin with Phoebe having her kitchen done up and posting some pictures on Facebook.
“Yeah, I mean, that’s a great moment,” says writer Jenny Cox.
“She just takes some pictures and posts them, it’s so Phoebe.”
Joey then sees the picture on Facebook and comments that it’s a nice kitchen.
“That’s really the starting point for the whole film, Rachel also comments that she likes the kitchen then Phoebe asks how Rachel is, then Joey suggests getting together, and the others agree.”
Two months then pass and Monica logs on to Facebook and comments that she likes the kitchen too and that she’d love to get together and sorry that she hadn’t been in touch but she doesn’t really do Facebook.”
Another three months pass before Joey asks if ‘we’re going to get together then or what?’
“That kind of sets the pattern for the film,” confirms Ms Cox, “I mean, there’s a lot more to it, Ross isn’t on Facebook, Chandler prefers Twitter, so there’s a lot to get into.”
It is expected that fans of the comedy will take to Facebook to arrange with old friends to get together and go to the cinema to watch the film and then when nothing comes of it, wait for it to be released on Netflix instead.
