Plot of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ just Mark Hamill on an escalator

The Internet was alive with excitement as a leak seemed to reveal that the plot for the new Star Wars film The Rise of Skywalker is just Mark Hamill on an escalator.

It is understood that the beginning of the film will see Mark Hamill, or ‘Luke Skywalker’ as he’s known to fans, at the bottom of the escalator.

He will then step on to the escalator and stand still whilst holding the handrail for his own safety. He will then ascend or ‘rise’ to the top of the escalator, when the film will end.

Fans were excited.

“I knew it, I bloody knew it,” said ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“I mean, alright, I thought it would be Mark Hamill in an elevator. But I definitely knew when I saw that title that it would be Hamill in some form of mechanised transport that causes him to go up.”

It is expected that the relatively simple plot will see the new film’s run time come in at around 3 minutes, a relief to many after the bladder-testing two and a half hours of The Last Jedi. It will also be the shortest score that industry legend John Williams has ever composed.

The Rise of Skywalker will be the final episode in the Luke Skywalker story and is expected to provide a satisfying payoff to the millions of fans who have waited some forty years to watch Make Hamill on an escalator.
