Peterloo director’s cut DVD to feature more dinosaurs

A new director’s cut of Mike Leigh’s acclaimed Peterloo will be released later this year and the director has promised that it will feature many more dinosaurs than the theatrical cut.

Peterloo tells the story of the massacre of protesters in Manchester by government militias and, whilst praised for its forceful and gritty portrayal of a harrowing event from British history, many thought that it didn’t feature enough dinosaurs.

“Peterloo was a tremendous piece of work,” said critic Roy Peake.

“I found myself profoundly moved and really angry, it was a truly visceral piece of cinema. I did think that it could have been improved with dinosaurs, though.

“I mean, look at Jurassic Park – without dinosaurs, that’s just Jeff Goldblum on a nice tropical island, but add the dinosaurs and you’ve got a modern action classic.

“If dinosaurs could improve Jurassic Park that much, imagine what they’d do to Peterloo.”

Happily, the legendary British director has taken the opportunity to revisit the film for the new director’s cut release.

“Well, I must confess, originally I had planned to have some dinosaurs in the film, particularly in the scenes with Maxine. Nothing intrusive, just a diplodocus in the background or something.

“With hindsight, I wish I’d stuck with those plans. It really was the vision I had – Peterloo with dinosaurs.

“This new director’s cut will represent that vision fully, and I hope everyone enjoys it.”

It is thought that that Ken Loach is monitoring the situation closely, as it is well-known he has long wanted to revisit The Wind that Shakes the Barley to retrospectively add in the vampires, ghosts, and werewolves he originally had planned for the film.
