Marvel fans are in uproar that the person cast to play silver surfer in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie is not made of silver.
“This is typical. Typical of Marvel ignoring it’s fanbase,” said Stewart James, a man who clearly leads a fulfilling and happy life, in a video blog released earlier.
“It’s in the name. Silver Surfer. Silver. Silver Surfer is a surfer who is made of silver. That’s the whole thing. You can’t then just cast someone who is made of all skin and muscles and bones. It’s just completely wrong.”
Marvel defended their decision.
“Julia Garner is one of the best and most charismatic actors working today,” said a representative for the studio.
“Also, to the best of my knowledge, there are no actors or actresses available who are made of silver. But, rest assured, when our in SFX guys have got to work, the Silver Surfer will look spectacular.”
But James, like many other fans, remained unconvinced.
“I just want them to stay true to the comics. That’s all. I’ve nothing against people made of bones and muscle and skin, but Silver Surfer isn’t made of bones and muscle and skin and the casting should reflect that.
“Also, she’s a lady and I’m scared of ladies.”
