The next Marvel Cinematic Universe movie makes so many references to its previous movies there is literally no time left for any sort of story.
Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige said, “The thing that people love about the Marvel films is the fact that they’re all interrelated, referencing each other both explicitly and in an in-joke kind of a way.
“The problem now is that we’re up to eighteen already, with three more out by this time next year.
“The writers of the next one had this great idea, but by the time they’d laid all the groundwork for references from the other films for it to make sense, there was no time to fit the actual plot in.
“So, we thought, what the hey! Let’s drop the actual story, it’s not like that’s ever the best bit of a Marvel picture..
“As long as we’ve got all the callbacks and references to really make you feel like you’re part of one big gang, and in on all the gags, then you’ll have a great time..
“Plus, you know, we don’t have to start introducing yet more characters, like Corporal Frogpants, or Rumble-pants, whichever Z-rated caped crusader we’re getting down to now.”
