In a bold new experiment, Netflix has announced that the next series of The Crown will feature a crossover episode with the hugely popular American Horror Story.
“We got these two hit shows – AHS, and The Crown,” said Crown producer Matt Carter.
“Millions of people love them both so I figured, we cross them over and you get millions from one and millions from the other then you get billions of people – I mean, that’s just maths.”
The crossover show will take place in 1971 – Helena Bonham-Carter’s Princess Margaret, plagued by dreams of a giant head with a zip for a mouth and balls for eyes goes to see a psychiatrist played by Jessica Lange.
She is admitted to a psychiatric hospital run by vampires which has a hideous beast with no arms, legs, head or body in the basement.
Throughout her stay, Princess Margaret begins to doubt her own sanity after the ghost of Edward I keeps visiting her in her bed and claiming to have been reincarnated as a sexy rockstar, probably played by Evan Peters, so she teams up with a severed head who lives in the wall to escape back to Windsor Castle for a nice cigarette and a cocktail.
“It’s going to be wild. Crown fans are going to love it,” insisted Carter.
It is understood that if this proves as successful as seems likely, further crossovers with The Crown are planned for Stranger Things, Star Trek: Discovery, and Making of a Murderer.
