Shane Black’s new Predator will feature an ageing Predator who is beset by aches and pains and increasingly bemused by modern life.
“Yeah, I love the character of the Predator,” said Black.
“But I think it’s important to show how the world has moved on. Its not 1987 anymore. Is having a spaceship and cloaking device really that great in a modern world of Iphones and smart toasters?”
The plot will see the Predator live a quiet existence but troubled by a pain in his knee and persistent constipation.
His grandson has bought him an Ipad, but he doesn’t really know how to use it yet.
All of a sudden, a crack squadron of American Marines launch an attack against him and he has to find his keys and make off into the woods where a tense cat-and-mouse battle begins.
“So, yeah, you know. Will the Predator be able to figure out how to use his Ipad and get Google Maps up and running in time to escape the marines?” said an enthusiastic Black.
“It’s an exciting hook. Couple that with the constipation and you’ve got a Predator who is going to be really quite bloated and sluggish.
“Who doesn’t want to see that?”
It is expected that Black will follow his new Predator film with Terminator: Does anyone know what this lump on my back is?
