The sequel to 2014’s Maleficent is to focus on the wicked queen’s past as a member of an IT support team for a major financial institution.
The Queen will be depicted as a wide-eyed, young computer graduate whose only dream is to help people when their printer gets jammed or they’ve forgotten their password.
“It’s a film about how working on an IT support team can corrupt even the most innocent heart,” said producer and star Angelina Jolie.
“We begin with young Mal graduating with a computer science degree and then her excitement and hope as she gets her first job, but that joy is immediately dented as she is shown to the dungeon-like basement in which the IT support team have been consigned.
“From then on it is a daily litany of humiliation and mistreatment as people shout at her because an email took three minutes to arrive or they can’t insert a high definition clip from Family Guy into their PowerPoint presentation.
Finally, after several months, she snaps, becomes profoundly evil and takes over the realm in an orgy of cruelty and violence.
“It’s really a timeless story of hate, violence and being told to stay late to disinfect the CEO’s laptop after he accidentally downloaded 98GB of adult content.”
Maleficent: Have You Tried Switching It Off And On Again will be released later this year.
