Huw Edwards refuses to rule himself out of role of Batman

News at Ten presenter Huw Edwards is making no move to deny rumours linking him to the role of Batman in an upcoming movie.

Last week, it was reported that Robert Pattinson had been offered the role. However, with neither Pattinson nor the studio confirming the reports, rumours began to circulate.

The role was linked with Nicolas Hoult, then Home to Roost star Reece Dinsdale, then veteran Downton Abbey star Dame Maggie Smith.

Sir Vince Cable was briefly favourite for the role after he confirmed he would be resigning as leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Over the weekend, many thought that Manchester United legend and Sky football pundit Gary Neville would get the role after a fascinating dissection of the Championship play-off title.

Then the Internet was next alive with rumours that the role of Batman would go to a bloke in the pub called Larry who was really good at pool.

However, this morning, several journalists were camped outside the home of respected BBC veteran newsreader Huw Edwards.

When he emerged, he smiled enigmatically when asked about rumours linking him to the role of Batman, but refused to confirm or deny anything, leading many to believe an official announcement was imminent.

If the rumours are true, it would be the first time that a Welsh, middle-aged, ex-newsreader has played the role of Batman but, many would argue, hopefully not the last.
