A surprise new installment in the classic nineties Honey, I Shrunk… franchise has been announced.

Kids, I Shrunk the Honey tells the story of a wacky inventor who accidentally shrinks the honey down to a microscopic level leaving his children with nothing healthy and nutritious for breakfast.

“It was either this or Sister Act,” confirmed producer Stewart James.

“So, yeah. We wanted a family friendly classic. We tried coming up with something new and got as far as a thing about an orphan and a magic turtle and we realised that coming up with new ideas is just really, really hard.”

Not to be discouraged though, Mr James and his colleagues hit on a plan.

“We just scanned some movie channels and someone noticed Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and figured we could do that.

“We wanted a twist though, so we thought about shrinking the guy or his wife or his wife’s tennis instructor but we weren’t feeling it.

“Then someone suggested shrinking the honey and we were like, you know, why not? Everyone loves honey, and if you were going to have honey for breakfast and then your dad shrunk it, you’d be like – ‘oh man, dad, why did you do that?’ – so then Dad has to get the honey back to normal-size and win back the love of his kids.

“I mean, okay, it’s not exactly Back to the Future but, how many family films are there these days? It’s either this or something with minions in.”

Kids, I Shrunk the Honey will come out next year. Probably towards the end of Summer when you’re really hard up for things to do with the children.
