New film to see the Terminator travel back to the 50s to ensure his parents kiss at prom

The new film in the hugely successful Terminator franchise will see the titular cyborg head back to 50s small-town America to ensure his parents fall in love at the school prom.

After the relative unpopularity of the previous film, in which Daenerys Targaryen calls the Terminator ‘Pops’ for reasons unknown, it is hoped that this new film will get the franchise back on track.

“We really wanted to explore the history of the Terminator. Who is he? Where did he come from? Can he skateboard while hanging on to the back of a truck?” said producer Linda Fox.

“We also felt that, at their heart, the Terminator pictures are light comedy, and we’re going to bring that to the fore.

“There’ll be plenty of terrific fish-out-of-water moments, with the Terminator trying to order a ‘Tab’ and when the guy at the diner doesn’t understand, Terminator shoots him in the face.

“Then there’s a bit where the Terminator accidentally lets slip that he has two TVs, and when the family questions him, he shoots them in the face.

“My favourite part though, is when the Terminator inadvertently invents rock and roll by playing Johnny B. Goode, and when the audience looks on in bemusement after he plays a heavy-metal guitar solo, he shoots them all in the face.”

Ms Fox also revealed that there is a particularly exciting set-piece at the end of the film.

“That’s terrific, seeing the Terminator return to his own post-apocalyptic timeline,

“I guess you could say that he’s trying to get back to the future, but really, I’ve no idea why that phrase would pop into anyone’s head at this point.”
