A new film adaptation of Da Vinci’s Christ is currently in development
The announcement is good news for fans of the most expensive painting in the world, of which there is definitely one, and he must really, really like it.
“Yeah, I know it sounds kind of crazy, making a film out of a painting,” said producer Kathleen Howard.
“But the painting made four hundred and fifty million bucks, and that’s just for a still picture. A movie is lots and lots of still pictures put together so it stands to reason we’ll make lots and lots more money.”
“I mean, that’s just maths…or ‘math’ as we say in America for some reason.”
“Also, that painting is kind of a mouldy old thing that’s been painted over and generally fooled around with.”
“We make a film out of it, it’s going to be done using the absolute state of the art technology. It’ll look like a knockout.”
“Now I’m not saying that our movie is going to be better than Leonardo Da Vinci, I’ll let others be the judge.”
If the adaptation of Da Vinci’s Christ proves popular, then there are hopes that an adaptation of his Mona Lisa’s will follow.
“Yeah, I don’t want to say to much but Mona Lisa, Christ, St. John the baptist, the Madonna,” Ms Howard smiled knowingly.
“Maybe we’re looking at a Cinematic Da Vinciverse.”
Movie fans can only hope.
