New evidence suggests Lethal Weapon may be a Christmas film

The film community was abuzz yesterday as it was revealed that scientists have uncovered evidence that Lethal Weapon could well be a Christmas film.

A year-long, intensive, forensically scientific study into the film has revealed it definitely contains ‘Christmas bits.’

“We applied complicated, state-of-the-art science to the beginning of the film, and almost immediately discovered that there is a Christmas song playing,” said Melanie Glover, Professor of Christmas films at Oxford University.

“We then discovered Christmas decorations that may well be imperceptible to the human eye, and there is a fight scene with Mel Gibson, Mel Gibson’s mullet, and some bad guys that, science can reveal, takes place amongst Christmas trees.

“We suspect no one had noticed the Christmas trees because they were distracted by the majesty of Mel’s mullet.”

Some film fans were sceptical.

Lethal Weapon a Christmas film?” Exclaimed Prime Minister of Finland and Christmas film fan Juha Sipila.

“I don’t know about that. I mean, science may say it is, but my heart says it’s just a film that happens to take place at Christmas like LA Confidential or The Apartment.

Others were excited.

“Brilliant news,” tweeted @IHeartChristmas

“I’m going to watch it twice every day from now until New Years.”

Dr Glover and her now team have decided to use science to conclusively prove whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas film.

Even though it obviously is.
