The recently announced Captain Picard series will be a confrontational talk show in which the formidable starship captain interviews real people in front of a baying studio audience.
The show – Picard’s People – will see interviews with a Klingon with two families, a betazoid who turned to sex-work after empathy fell out of fashion, and a human who believes earth should leave the Federation of Planets and go it alone.
“I’m very excited to be returning to the screens,” said Captain Picard who, until recently had been living as an actor in the 21st Century.
“We had a number of ideas – a gentle detective show in which I solve crimes in the French countryside, a cookery show – Cooking with the Captain, an erotic thriller set on a planet of attractive nude women, or a wacky sitcom in which Worf moves in with me after a failed relationship and we get into all sorts of scrapes and misunderstandings.”
Ultimately, the Caption was keen to explore the talk show format.
“Yes, I think real stories are often the most interesting, so having real people opening up about their lives and problems will be fascinating and compelling.
“And they might even fight each other as well.”
Picard’s People debut later this year with an episode about an artificial lifeform who suffers from catastrophic erectile dysfunction.
