Neil Young Old

An investigation into what’s going on with this so-called Neil ‘young’

Rock legend Neil Young, despite his name being ‘Young’ is now, at 78, actually old.

“It’s weird really,” said fan Kevin Ballbag.

“I mean, I was just listening to Weld, his grunge album from the nineties. I was looking at the cover and it said ‘Neil Young.’ I just thought it was a bit ironic because he’s not young, not really. I mean, alright, in the context of the planet and the universe and everything then maybe he is quite young. But in human terms, he is definitely quite old.”

The Heart of Gold hitmaker became famous in the sixties with the band Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. At the time, he was still quite young, barely into his twenties. His name would have been unlikely to have raised an eyebrow at the time, however now, at 78, arguably, he has been old for at least ten years.

“I think that’s about right,” continued Ballbag.

“I don’t think you’d really call someone in their sixties ‘old’ anymore, but late-sixties? Definitely.”

Ironically, in 1972, the Like a Hurricane legend had a hit with his song ‘Old Man.’ Although, it was unlikely to have been written as a reference to the current situation.

It is understood that Neil Young has no plans to change his name to Neil Old as finding his albums in the record shop would then become much more confusing for fans.
