The film rights to a riveting PowerPoint presentation on sales projections in the North-West have been snapped up with a view to entering production quickly to be ready for a release next year.
There has been a buzz around the presentation ever since, somewhere around the 34th slide, Geoff from accounts was heard to mutter – ‘Riveting. This should be a film.’
Word got through to Hollywood, and hot young executive Kelly Grace decided to look into it.
“When I saw PowerPoint presentation on North-West sales projections, I knew a film adaptation could be big. Really big. Peter Rabbit 2 big.”
However, Stewart James, an executive at a rival studio had been made aware of the prospect.
“I knew Kelly had something. I knew it was a PowerPoint presentation, but that was all I knew.”
Ms Grace had only one choice.
“I had Stewart on my heels and he was a hell of a negotiator. If I was going to land the rights to PowerPoint presentation on North-West sales projections, then there was no time to waste. I needed to make the deal.”
She did so. A deal in the region of $1M.
“Expensive? Perhaps, but it could be worth it,” continued Ms Grace.
“Leo wants in. Meryl too. Merchandising is going to be huge – a McDonalds tie-in next Summer and a PowerPoint presentation on North-West sales projections toy-line ready for the holidays next year.”
Many industry analysts now believe it will be the film to beat next year, and the start of a major new trend. Mr James was determined to not be left behind again.
“Kelly beat me this time but that’s not happening again. I’ve got a PowerPoint presentation on shoe-trends in Europe, a PowerPoint presentation on fuel demand in Canada, and a PowerPoint presentation on production efficiency for a washing-up liquid.
“They’re pretty much in the bag and at least one of them will be ready to go by the end of next year.”
However, Ms Grace had an ace up her sleeve.
“I’ve just secured the rights to a small Korean PowerPoint presentation that, believe me, is a masterpiece.
“Two years’ time. The Oscars. That’s all I’m saying.”
