With just months to go until Rebel Moon’s release, there is increasing alarm at Netflix at a series of responses to test screenings demanding ‘more Darth Vader and gay robots.’
“Yeah, this is a bit worrying. One guy said he preferred the ones with Han Solo in,” explained producer Stewart James.
“I mean, I thought we were being clear that this definitely isn’t a Star Wars film but I guess people are seeing a title like Rebel Moon, seeing it all being in space and looking really, really like a Star Wars film, and they’re expecting a Star Wars film.”
Mr James currently isn’t planning on making any changes to the film as it currently stands.
“No, I mean, adding some scenes with Darth Vader would be tricky from a legal point of view. We could think about popping in some gay robots though? I guess, even though Star Wars pioneered the whole gay robots thing, it’s not like they’re exclusively a Star Wars thing. Maybe something to think about for the sequel.”
Whilst the there are no material changes to the film itself planned, the title and promotional material will undergo a change.
Rebel Moon: Definitely, Definitely Not a Star Wars Film At All will be released on Netflix this coming winter.
