There was disappointment amongst fans of modern farming classic Minari after it was announced that action figures and playsets based on the film will be delayed until later in the year.
It was, however, confirmed that there would be a ‘Chicken Sexing Room on a Farm’ playset, and a ‘Static Motorhome in an Empty Field’ playset, so children and the young-at-heart would be able to use the playsets to recreate their favourite moments from the film.
“I’m sad,” said 8-year-old Stewart James, who had been looking forward to the toys.
“I love Minari and watch it every day and I want to make the farm. Soon-Yi is my favourite and I wanted a Soon-Yi figure to play with.”
Kelly Grace is a representative of the toy company who are producing the playsets and action-figures.
“We know that people will be disappointed,” she said.
“I know that when you take your kids out to see a film and they love it then they just want to get their hands on the toys and start playing out scenes from the film.
“But, when you get your hands on that chicken sexing playset with individual chicks and trays, you’ll see that it’ll be worth the wait. It’s even got its own little chick incinerator.”
“And the detail on the trailer is pretty special. With a removable ceiling, you’ll have access to every room and be able to play out David and Soon-Yi watching the wrestling and Jacob and Monica having yet another fight.
“Kids are going to love it.”
Despite the disappointment of the Minari playsets being delayed, there was some consolation with the news that playsets and toys based on First Cow, Nomadland and The Father will be available, as announced, from next month.
