The trailer for the upcoming Blade Runner cartoon has arrived and has showcased some hilarious wacky, slapstick humour that seems to confirm the rumoured family friendly reboot for the franchise.
Opening with Deckard chasing a replicant through a desert setting, the pair race faster and faster until it becomes clear that they’ve both run off a cliff and are running in mid-air. They both appear to realise at the same time. The replicant gulps, looks down and screams. Deckard smiles, waves, and fires a grappling hook back at the cliff. The replicant plummets to their death and Deckard walks back to his hover-car.
“Blade Runner 2049 was a terrific movie,” explained producer Stewart James.
“But, the problem is that it didn’t do very well. People just aren’t interested anymore in grumpy robots shooting each other in the rain.”
Following the box-office failure of Blade Runner 2049, producers went back to the drawing board.
“We knew we didn’t want to abandon the world of Blade Runner, we just needed a fresh take. We tried a rom-com with Deckard having to work with a girl Blade Runner, and initially they annoy each other, but ultimately fall in love. We tried a zombie concept with Deckard chasing down zombie replicants. We even tried a Bergman-esque, existential Blade Runner, with Deckard in black-and-white sobbing over a failed harvest in rural Scandinavia.”
Ultimately, Mr James decided a wacky slapstick cartoon was the best way to reinvent the franchise.
“Yes, and it’s really worked as well,” he laughs.
“The Blade Runner cartoon is a great series. We’ve got Deckard killing replicants by dropping anvils on them, hitting them in the face with an iron, launching them into space on a firework, smashing them into the ground with a big mallet, all sorts. It’s inventive, and hilarious.
“I think fans are going to love the new direction.” The Wacky Adventures of Blade Runner and friends will air later this year, and the trailer can be seen here

Maverick cop still hasn’t shaved
A maverick cop working out of the toughest precinct in New York still hasn’t shaved.
The cop, who doesn’t give a damn what those a**holes in City Hall think, claims that he’s been too busy trying to get real police work done to shave.
“Hey, screw shaving, how ‘bout that,” said Detective Jack Renegade, as he busted his ass trying to take down a perp.
However, the New York Police department attire guidelines clearly state that all detectives ‘must maintain a tidy and dignified facial appearance at all times.’
“So, what? I’m supposed let some scumbag who’s attacked a kitten on the subway with an AK-47 walk, just so I can go back to my apartment and shave,” said the detective as he avoided paying alimony to his three ex-wives who all left him because he was all about the job.
The Detective’s chief was getting tired of the detective’s crazy BS.
“Hey, is it too much to ask that he just takes two minutes in the morning to shave? Just two minutes. The guy looks like a bum.
“I’d like to bust his insubordinate ass back into uniform but, damn it, his methods may be unconventional, but he gets the job done.”
However, despite his protestations, rumours persist that the only reason Detective Renegade hasn’t shaved in the last few weeks is because his local 7/11 has taken his favourite razors off a long-running two-for-one deal.
