Actor, director, and drunken lunatic Mel Gibson has announced that his next film as director will be a remake of the seminal 1970s cartoon the Hair Bear Bunch.

It had originally been announced that he would be remaking Sam Peckinpah’s seminal Western The Wild Bunch, but that seemed really difficult so, instead, the Man With No Face director will be making a cartoon about some bears instead.

Set in Wonderland zoo, the Hair Bear Bunch are three bears who have hair and hilariously attempt to trick the zookeepers and escape their cage before returning to their cage and pretending they hadn’t tried to escape at all.

It is expected that the Mel Gibson version will see the wacky heroes bloodily maul the zookeepers to death before gunning down all the other animals and visitors and heading on a violent rampage to Mexico.

The announcement means that Gibson’s sequel to The Passion of the Christ The Passion of the Christ 2: Electric Boogaloo – will be put on hold.

Mel Gibson’s Hair Bear Bunch will be released in late 2019, provided the director doesn’t fall drunkenly out of a car, verbally abuse a female police officer and let fly a string of anti-Semitic insults.

So, 50/50 then.
