La La Land: Ragnarok, a surprise sequel to La La Land, will be released early next year.
The subtitle ‘Ragnarok’ refers to the series of events in Norse mythology that includes a great battle, a series of natural disasters and the death of numerous gods – which would indicate that the sequel will take a radically different direction to the first film.
“Yeah, we’re trying something a bit different here,” said Producer Ryan Stone.
“Originally, we had a plan for the sequel that saw the characters meet up some four or five years after events of the original and put on a musical together.
“Then I saw the last Thor movie. I thought it was terrific, hilarious, and gave me a fascinating insight into the concept of Ragnarok.”
Mr Stone set to work ringing the changes on his plans for his sequel.
“I wanted to show the events of Ragnarok through the medium of Jazz and dance and set the whole thing in contemporary LA.
“I think we’ve really nailed it and fans of the original are going to love it.
“The scene with Odin and Freyr tap-dancing through a studio lot as a great Viking battle takes place around them while an apocalyptic storm rages is really going to appeal to everyone who enjoyed the first picture.”
It is understood that, should La La Land: Ragnarok prove successful then Mr Stone is planning a further sequel – La La Land: The Rapture.
