Bodyguard star Keeley Hawes’ inevitable cover of Whitney Houston’s cover of ‘I Will Always Love You’ has been made favourite for Christmas number 1, after the TV cover of ‘The Bodyguard’ film has been rated a raging success.
Both the movie and TV versions feature a very professional bodyguard assigned to look after a high-profile woman who then, inexplicably, get it on amidst a load of trouble.
Director of Photography, Barabus Valentine, said, “Quite where Keeley’s version of the hit will appear in the show, which is not a traditional musical, is anyone’s guess.”
“It doesn’t really strike anyone as a musical per se, and the tension against the background of constant terrorist activity doesn’t really seem to lend itself to a having songs anywhere really. Nor does it seem to contain any other songs. Nor a renowned singer. Though legend has it Keels can really get into it at a wrap party, where she always gets on top of the piano to drunkenly bellows ‘Knees Up Mother Brown’.”
“But, you know, on the plus side: no Kevin Costner!”
Not everyone is pleased with the news however. Didier Bolsak, who claims to have enjoyed the series, is distressed that one of the leads is taking on the musical number.
“There is absolutely no reason for Keeley to remake this song and risk it staying at the top of the hit parade for 15 weeks, or possibly longer. It’s disgraceful, to be honest. Because ‘Queen of the Night’ is a vastly superior tune.”
