Fans of children murdering other children for entertainment were excited to learn that a The Hunger Games prequel has now been confirmed.
The A-Bit-Peckish Games will be set some seventy years before the events of the recent films.
“Well, the stakes are definitely lower,” explained producer Nina Jacobson.
“You know, Panem isn’t quite the dystopian nightmare that it will become and most people aren’t really properly hungry yet, they’re just a bit peckish, hence the new title – The A-Bit-Peckish Games.
The prequel will detail the origin of the Hunger Games that will ultimately lead to the downfall of Panem.
“So, it’s the first ever games, right? But it’s different. They’re not the Hunger Games yet. In the Hunger Games, the children are sent into the woods to kill each other with no supplies at all, but in these first games, they take a packed lunch with them.
“But it’ll be quite a small packed lunch so they will never feel really full and then they have to kill each other while feeling a bit, you know, peckish.
“But, you know, it’s Panem! A chance to come back and go into that world that everyone loved. That’s the important thing about a Hunger Games prequel, not whether there’s a coherent story that will add to the mythology or anything.”
The A-Bit-Peckish Games is targeting a 2024 release date and will be accompanied with a burger restaurant promotional tie-in, but only on the smaller portions that you have when you’re only feeling a bit peckish.
