How adult film ‘The Walking Head’ proved the inspiration for classic zombie show

The Walking Head was a popular hour-long pornographic film that proved surprisingly popular in the early years of the internet.

“Yeah, everyone loved The Walking Head,” explained star Jeremy Largecock.

“It was actually a pretty cool idea. Loads of dead people start coming back to life and, you know, having a bunch of oral sex with each other.”

Despite its popularity, no one could have predicted what would happen in 2010.

“My wife saw it first, she called me into the living room and there it was on TV – The Walking Dead. We were both like – that’s familiar.

“We watched it and, sure enough, post-apocalyptic, people coming back from the dead, the name. I mean, it was The Walking Head, except with a fairly disappointing amount of nudity and a pun on our film’s name.”

It turns out there was little that Jeremy and the producers of the original film could do.

“No, it was a legal mess. Couldn’t even get an ‘inspired by’ credit. It was really disappointing. Even if they weren’t legally obliged to give us anything, just a bit of professional courtesy would have been nice. They could have given us some cameo roles, had a scene of hardcore zombie sex that we could have done for them. Just as a thank you to us for the inspiration.

“Or, they could have done a spin-off – The Walking Dead Nights – that’s what I was pushing for. Like Baywatch Nights but with more hardcore scenes and zombies.”

Sadly, not only did The Walking Dead producers have no interest in crediting their inspiration, but they continued to draw from the same well.

“I think we’d all made our piece with it. We know where The Walking Dead comes from. Our fans do. But then there’s this new Walking Dead spin-off, and they’ve done it again.”

“I mean, are they really going to tell us they’d never seen our sequel The Walking Head: Head City?”
