Unorthodox new Gary Barlow biopic sees Take That star played by an annoying yappy dog

Following on from news that a new biopic will have Robbie Williams played by a CGI ape comes the announcement that a new Gary Barlow biopic will have the Take That star played by an annoying yappy dog.

“The Robbie Williams biopic is bold. It’s clever. We wanted to do something similar with Gary,” explained director Stewart James.

“So we wanted an animal that best represented him. We brainstormed a few things, a blowfish, a big fly, some bacteria. Eventually, we got it – a really annoying little yappy dog. The sort of dog that’s always there, yapping. Wherever you go, it follows you, just yapping away in that really annoying way that they do.”

The film will go through the big moments in Barlow’s life.

“We’ve got the initial auditions for Take That. The other guys are there, just played by normal actors, and then you’ve got this little yappy dog, yapping constantly so that everyone just ultimately gets really annoyed.

“That iconic first Top of the Pops performance sees the boys nervously performing It Only Takes a Minute, but with Gary Barlow as this little annoying yapping dog, just yapping through the whole thing.

“Then we’ve got their famous Royal Variety performance. Gary Barlow the annoying yappy dog just yaps away, oblivious to people getting annoyed by him, and then he does a poo in Prince Charles’ shoe. That, I’ve got to be honest, is artistic licence. We don’t know if he really did that, but then again, there’s nothing to say he didn’t.”

Gary Barlow: What An Annoying Little Yappy Dog, is being filmed now for release next year.
