A film in which a cute little boy and his cynical businessman dad have to search for Santa’s missing reindeer is probably on now.
Despite having a plot about looking after a reindeer, it seems crushingly inevitable that what the film is really about is the dad learning that there’s more to life than business and the little boy getting his Dad back.
The film will likely be interrupted every five minutes by adverts for a water-powered hoover and a 8364 CD box-set of terrible sixties songs and will be on a channel so far down Freeview that your thumb gets RSI to get there.
It will likely begin with the dad too busy doing ‘business’ do build a Lego model of Guernsey with the little boy.
There is a commotion in the garden and the little boy, who is quite sad, looks out the window to discover Santa (played by someone you vaguely recognise from Baywatch) has crashed his sleigh.
The little boy goes out and finds that Christmas will be cancelled unless he finds a missing reindeer, so he uses an implausible plot device to get his Dad to help him.
There will then be an hour or so of inconsequential nonsense before they find the reindeer and everyone gets to eat a mince pie.
If the film, called something like The Boy Who Saved Christmas by Finding a Reindeer, isn’t on right now, then chances are it’ll be on in a few minutes.
