Eastenders Christmas special to see everyone just have a nice Christmas

The plotline for this year’s Eastenders Christmas special has been revealed and, somewhat controversially, will just see all the characters just having a really lovely Christmas.

Ben’s decision to abandon his criminal lifestyle sees a peace and calm descend on the square and Mick decides to hold a nice Christmas party at the Vic.

Everyone goes to the party, has a nice singalong to Slade and then goes home without anyone getting shot or having an affair.

The episode concludes with the ghost of Dirty Den apologising to the ghost of Angie for that Christmas episode where he divorces her.

“I think that fans are just a bit tired of all the crazy events and drama in Eastenders,” explained producer Sharon Batten.

“So, a heartwarming Christmas episode with everyone having a nice time seemed like just the thing.”

However, she did also reveal that the episode will also contain some suspense and drama.

“Oh yes, of course, it is Eastenders, after all.

“When Mick sets up the Christmas tree, he finds that one of the bulbs doesn’t work, so there is a frantic search to get the lights working in time for the party.

“Happily, the shop is still open so it isn’t really that much of a problem.”

Fans worried that the episode will usher in a new era of peaceful and nice Eastenders plots need not worry, though.

“No, January begins a major new plotline,” continued Ms Batten.

“Osama Bin Laden kidnaps everyone in Walford and holds them hostage on the moon leading Ian Beale to train to be an astronaut to go and rescue them.”
