Fast and Furious series could become supernatural, underwater, time-travelling musical says writer

Chris Morgan, the writer of the Fast and Furious films, has been speaking of the future of the franchise.

He didn’t rule out future movies being set in space – ‘as long as they’re cool.’

Later on, possibly after drinking, he claimed that a future film could even be a supernatural, underwater, time-travelling musical.

“How cool would that be!” He exclaimed.

“Vin Diesel and Jason Statham have to go back to Victorian London to battle the ghost of Captain Nemo under the Thames and the rest of the family narrate the story through song.

“Obviously, you replace the car chases with horse and carriage chases or the whole thing would be silly.

“But otherwise, I’d watch it. Who wouldn’t watch it?”

He went on to explain the core appeal of the series.

“Vin Diesel saying ‘family’ a lot. When you get down to it, that’s what Fast and Furious is really all about, Vin Diesel saying ‘family.’

“If we wanted to make a movie where they all travel into the future to save the universe by driving a car into the sun then, so long as Vin Diesel says ‘family’ a lot, it’d be a Fast and Furious film and it would work great.”

Although Mr Morgan wasn’t drunk enough to reveal any dates, if Fast and Furious 9 was released in 2021 then it seems likely that Fast and Furious 10: The Underwater Musical Ghost of Captain Nemo should be ready for around 2024.
