Elder Scrolls VI set in the eighties and stars roller-skating rapper called ‘Beatbox’

Bethesda yesterday took the gaming world by dropping a new trailer for Elder Scrolls VI, the latest in their series of legendary fantasy games.

However, it looks like this episode will be a departure from the high fantasy of previous games, as it is set in the eighties and features a roller-skating rapper called Beatbox as the lead character.

A previous teaser trailer simply featured the mountainous land of Tamriel with the words ‘Elder Scrolls VI.’

This new trailer starts in exactly the same fashion, with the same words appearing on screen, but then a roller skating rapper appears and karate-kicks those words off the screen while shouting ‘Yo, I’m Beatbox and I’m fresh.’

The mountainous landscape then dissolved to show a graffitied wall.

After a brief silence, ‘Push It’ by Salt n Pepa begins playing. The camera pans to the left to show a Nike-clad Kahajiit scratching on some old school decks before a Breton, a Nord, and an Imperial all begin a synchronised breakdance routine in front of the DJ.

Beatbox then skates into the scene and raps – ‘I’m fly Beatbox, and I’m here to say, this scroll ain’t elder, it’s here to stay.’

The camera pans further round to reveal a graffitied ‘Elder Scrolls’ logo and the trailer ends with a fading hip-hop beat.

The trailer suggests a bold move on Bethesda’s part, as this would be the first time an Elder Scrolls game has adopted a hip-hop theme since the 1996’s disastrous ‘Elder Scrolls II: Back to the Hood.’
