Edge of Tomorrow sequel has man stuck in time-loop repeatedly watching Edge of Tomorrow

Further details have emerged of the proposed Edge of Tomorrow sequel including the central premise of a man trapped in a time-loop having to watch Edge of Tomorrow over and over again.

“The Edge of Tomorrow sequel is a lower budget affair,” explained director Doug Liman.

“Essentially, it’s just one guy and he’s home after calling in sick and decides to watch Edge of Tomorrow, then he dies but he wakes up again just as Edge of Tomorrow is about to start.

“He’s going to need to break the cycle, end the time-loop and not die.”

The key for the man will be figuring out how not to watch Edge of Tomorrow.

“Exactly, but that’s not so easy,” continued Liman

“It’s one of those films, isn’t it? You just put it on and there’s Tom Cruise, and he’s killing the aliens, and before you know it, you’re caught up in the whole thing and have to watch it all the way through to the end again.”

The sequel will again feature Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, the stars of the original.

“Well, obviously. I mean, they’re in the original film, the original film is being played over and over again, so they’re going to be in it a lot.”

Should the Edge of Tomorrow sequel prove successful, it is expected to by followed by Edge of Tomorrow 3 which will feature someone else caught in a time-loop watching Edge of Tomorrow 2 and dying over and over again.

This will then grow into a franchise which will ultimately see everyone caught in a time-loop watching Edge of Tomorrow and its sequels over and over again until everyone dies at the insects reclaim the planet.
