Dragon’s Lair adaptation just Ryan Reynolds repeatedly going left, falling in a hole and dying

A new Dragon’s Lair adaptation has been announced and will star everyone’s second favourite Ryan after Meg – Ryan Reynolds.

Dragon’s Lair was a classic arcade video game of the eighties that saw unsuspecting youths become entranced by the spectacular Don Bluth animation, pop 10p in the slot, and be presented with the character of Dirk the Daring entering a castle.

The youth would then move him to the left and watch as he fell in a hole and died, before restarting at the beginning of the castle.

The plot of the film will see Reynolds play Dirk the Daring, who enters a castle, goes left and falls in a hole and dies before restarting at the beginning of the castle.

This will then repeat until the entire audience becomes so bored that they go and do something fun instead.

“It was important to really capture what made Dragon’s Lair so special,” said Reynolds.

“Which was the unbearable, almost existential tedium of repeatedly going left, falling in a hole and dying.”

Reynolds went on to say that, originally, plans for the Dragon’s Lair adaption were a great deal more expansive.

“Oh man, it was going to be this epic and hilarious adventure with a beautiful princess, a handsome Prince and dragons and elves and goblins and incredible magic lands.

“It would have just been this awesome wild ride.

“But then we stepped back and asked – ‘Is that really what Dragon’s Lair is about?’ – you know, fun and excitement and everything.

“The answer, of course, is ‘No.’ Dragon’s Lair is about going left, falling in a hole and dying. So that’s what we’re sticking with.

It is understood that if the Dragon’s Lair adaptation proves as successful as the arcade game, it will be followed by a sequel – Dragon’s Lair II: Time Warp – which will feature a plot consisting of Dirk the Daring repeatedly going right, being crushed by a boulder and dying.
