Denis Villeneuve in talks with Sting’s blue codpiece supplier for Dune: Part II

As preparations for Dune: Part II continue, reports are emerging that director Denis Villeneuve is in talks with Sting’s supplier of codpieces with a view to having one take a major part in the sequel.

Carruthers’ Fine Codpiecery and Y-Frontage of Bond Street in London are famous for having supplied Sting with his bright blue codpiece for the 1984 film version of Dune and, in fact, for all his codpiece and Y-front requirements ever since.

Dune was one of the most successful films of 2021, both commercially and critically, but did face criticism for not having a major middle-aged pop star striding about in a big blue codpiece.

“Leaving out the big blue codpiece from Dune was, probably, the most difficult artistic decision I’ve made in lifetime,” explained Villeneuve.

“As soon as we got the greenlight for the new film, I knew the first thing I needed to do was secure the biggest and most splendid blue codpiece imaginable.

“Naturally, Carruthers’ were the first and only people I’ve spoken to as they were responsible for the original big blue codpiece. However, we’ve given them instructions to create a giant codpiece that is even more splendid and impressive.

“I’m not going to give away too many details just yet, but I promise that this is a codpiece that will take your eye out from four paces. We’re even considering making the new film 3D, just to really show off the magnificence of this new codpiece.”

Whilst the codpiece has been confirmed for Part II, the middle-aged popstar wearing it has yet to be confirmed.

There are currently several petitions in place against Noel Gallagher being given the role, because no-one needs to see him in a giant pair of blue pants.
